News from the farm: September 2016

It is full speed ahead at The Community Farm. Our crops are growing as fast (if not faster) than we can pick them, the farm has been bustling with visitors, volunteers and festival goers and our calendars are jam packed with events for the month ahead. So grab your straw hat and come along for the ride!>

Organic your September

Organic September, the UK’s biggest celebration of all things organic, is finally here! We’ll be posting handy hints and tips on Facebook and Twitter throughout the month along with recipes, deals and organic news.

Now is a fantastic time to tell your friends about all the great reasons to buy organic boxes from The Community Farm. During Organic September, we're giving brand new customers an incredible 50% off their first vegetable box when they use the offer code OrganicSept.

Short and sweet

In addition to these events we have teamed up with Nourish Wholefoods to bring you an apple pie bake off to celebrate Organic September! You can collect your FREE Community Farm apples at Nourish Wholefoods and bring back your apple pie ready for your chance to win the Apple Pie Bake Off! The competition is open to all age groups and abilities.

The shining stars of the BBC

It has been an exciting month for the farm. We have had Natalie Bennett, outgoing leader of the Green Party, singing our praises on Women’s Hour. Not only that but we have also been featured on The Great British Menu! Josh Eggleton, chef at The Pony and Trap, brought the Great British Menu team down to the farm for a tour with our landlord Luke Hassel. Catch them both on BBC IPlayer.

Celebrate the harvest with us!

We’re planning a get-together on Saturday 1 October, from 11am to 3pm, to thank everyone for their support. Enjoy fantastic company and beautiful views, surrounded by the fruits (or vegetables) of our labour. It’s a chance to get to know the farm, and its community, a little better and to share your ideas for the future.

We’ll be stoking up the barbecue and cob oven to make lunch using fresh crops from the field. You can join us in making a rather unusual scarecrow for the Harvey’s Scarecrow Trail. There’ll be a tour of the farm at 2pm.

Whether you’re a farm member or a volunteer, or you support the farm in another way, your contribution goes a long way to making the farm the special place it is. Together we have achieved so much. We do hope you can join us.

Valley Fest

We kicked off September with a bang! The Community Farm was abuzz with music, food and fun, as Valley Fest arrived on our fields. It was lovely to see so many smiling faces enjoying the farm and to welcome more people to get on our land.

Events on the farm.
