No Spinning Stories: Yarn Making, Connection and Conversation
Join textile artist Abbie Edbrooke for a relaxed and welcoming workshop exploring the ancient craft of drop spinning.
Rooted in the ancient tradition of communal textile-making, Spinning Stories is about more than yarn – it's about the connections created between people, materials and stories as we make together.
For thousands of years, people have gathered to spin yarn together. Around fires, kitchen tables and in shared workspaces, spinning has offered more than a practical skill – it has created opportunities for conversation, storytelling, friendship and community.
During the morning you'll learn how to prepare wool fibres and use simple drop spindles to learn how fibre is transformed into yarn while spending time making alongside others.
This workshop is about more than learning a technique. It is an invitation to slow down, connect with natural materials and enjoy the simple rhythm of making in company.
No previous experience is needed. Whether you're curious about textiles, interested in traditional crafts, or simply looking for a creative and sociable morning, you'll be warmly welcomed.
All materials and equipment are provided.
Suitable for ages 16+
If you have a wool allergy please get in contact before booking.
