- Scything Workshop

Come and join us for a rewarding day of traditional scything as summer draws to a close! This event is free thanks to funding by FiPL (Farming in Protected Landscapes).
Led by expert scyther Louise Treneman (Natural England), this hands-on workshop will guide you through the art of scything—from setting up and maintaining your tool to using it safely and effectively. You’ll also learn how this traditional skill plays a vital role in supporting wildlife and enhancing biodiversity.
After learning the essentials, we’ll head out together to scythe the farm’s margins, helping to create and maintain rich habitats where wildlife can thrive in the coming year. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get outside, learn a new skill, and contribute to the health of the land.
A simple, hearty lunch of free soup and bread will be provided.
Suitable for adults aged 18+
