We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Operations Manager - someone with the commercial and operational experience to grow the vegetable box and wholesale business of our community-owned business.

The Community Farm is a social enterprise that started trading in April 2011 with the aim of reconnecting people to where their food is grown.

It's a community-owned organisation with 500 members who have all invested in the Farm through Community Shares. The three main elements to the enterprise are the business (vegetable box and wholesale scheme); our growing operation on 28 acres of organic land in the Chew Magna - we are registered organic with the Soil Association; and our comunity engagement work through volunteering, training and learning.  The last three years have presented lots of opportunities for the Farm and its small team of staff - as well as many challenges - not least the weather!

We have a vacancy for a Commercial Operations Manager to manage the vegetable box scheme and our wholesale business. We currently deliver almost 400 boxes a week and have around 20 wholesale customers.

The main duties are to:

• build sales and develop profitability of the business operation
• oversee and manage sales of box scheme, wholesale and markets
• manage and develop network of suppliers of produce
• organise delivery logistics and ensure good management systems are in place for stock control
• identify opportunities and threats to the Farm’s commercial operation
• manage staff team including box packers, delivery drivers, customer service and volunteers

The person we need must:

• have extensive commercial experience in vegetable box delivery or simiilar business
• be able to meet targets
• take on team leadership and management
• have experience of working with suppliers and customers
• have experience of buying and handling fresh produce and of stock management
