About Us

Special Offer for our Members and Customers

Pigs are an integral part of the farming operation here at The Community farm, they are kept primarily as a tool for the growing operation. Playing a vital role in preparing ground, eating weeds and cleaning out old crops. Perhaps their most important role is converting waste veg into pork and  our pigs are fed on a hugely varied diet of fruit and veg which is produced from the field and wholesale operations. Waste is an everyday reality of growing and trading in fresh produce due to visual grading, short shelf life and varying demand. By feeding all our waste to the pigs we our able to convert it into pork, this enables us to cover the cost of keeping the pigs, we also hope it improves the flavour of the meat. Our pigs are all organic and free range, spending their whole lives right from birth living in the fields, enjoying a large area to roam in and lots of mud to roll in. They are allowed to grow slowly and in their own time as we believe this means they will be leaner and tastier, unlike intensive pork production where animals are brought to a slaughtering weight as fast as possible indoors to reduce costs for the producer. The pigs are Berkshire crossed Large Black, both are rare breeds with the Large Black being a traditional pig breed of the West Country. We are offering ¼ pig boxes for £70, each box will contain a selection of joints, chops, sausages, minced and diced pork. If you are interested in buying some of our lovely pork, please register your interest here https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/event/7962647493 and we will then contact you to discuss your order and organise payment and delivery.
