Green Gimlet Cocktail or Mocktail

Makes four drinks
To make the basil and ginger syrup heat equal quantities of sugar and water in a saucepan until it starts to bubble. Stir in a big handful of basil leaves and a few slices of root ginger. Continue to simmer for a couple of minutes then turn off the heat. Leave the syrup to infuse overnight for a stronger taste then pour through a fine sieve or piece of muslin.
Mix in all of the ingredients and enjoy!
