I spent many years working as a freelance writer and editor, working with BBC Wildlife and Countryfile as well as co-founding and editing an independent magazine I ran with my partner. After spending a lot of time writing about wildlife and environmental issues, I felt compelled to become more involved in the environmental sector, being particularly interested in peoples’ connection with the land. I volunteered with Somerset Wildlife Trust’s wonderful Nature Connections course and undertook Avon Wildlife Trust’s Grow Leader course to think about peoples’ connection with the land from the perspective of growing food. I jumped at the opportunity to work at The Community Farm, as having lived nearby for more than a decade I was already aware of the great work done here and knew that The Farm shared my core values.

When not at The Farm I delve back into the publishing world, and attempt to grow my own veg at home — with mixed successes!

We also have a team of fantastic regular volunteers who help us on the field, in the warehouse and for specific projects. Too numerous to mention here, and ever-changing, their support, commitment and enthusiasm is much appreciated by all of us at The Farm.
