Scything workshop
An introduction to the heritage skill of scything through a gentle day of connection and caring for the land.
Join us for an introduction to the heritage skill of scything.
Spend a day on the land at The Community Farm, learning the traditional craft of using a scythe — and giving yourself time to slow down and connect with the changing seasons.
This workshop is more than just learning a practical skill. It’s a chance to:
- Experience the satisfaction of caring for the land
- Spend time with our farm community
- Discover the quiet rhythm and meditative quality of scything
- Deepen your connection with the natural world through reciprocity
Alongside hands-on practice, we’ll share how The Community Farm is weaving agroecology and silviculture into our growing systems — working with wildlife rather than pushing it to the margins.
At lunchtime, we’ll enjoy a hearty meal of homemade soup and fresh bread, made with ingredients grown right here.
Whether you come for the skill, the fresh air, or the sense of connection, you’ll leave with a new appreciation for the beauty of traditional, hands-on land care.

We are committed to accessible ticket pricing but do need to cover our own costs. If you would like to attend but are unable to afford the Subsidised ticket prices, please do get in touch with us and we will help, if we can.
