Yurt Launch Celebration

Yurt Launch Celebration

Saturday 24th November, 11am - 3pm
Many of you will have already heard about the Lottery funding we secured earlier in the year to build a 'Yurt for Learning’ on site and establish a Learning Programme from the farm.

We have an exciting programme of adult learning courses and children’s activity days which we will be publishing on the website over the next few weeks. As a means of celebrating this new phase for the farm we’d like to invite you to our Yurt Launch Celebration on Saturday 24th November.

We have all sorts of exciting things in store for you!

We have invited artists Magdalena Francke and Dan Smith from Mother Courage Arts to create an interactive art installation for the event which promises to be 'educational and fun, reflecting the aims of the farm and focusing on land, people and food.’ As community are such a core part of the farm, we will be inviting the public to contribute written words and objects to the sculpture throughout the day.

We’ll be serving hot food and drinks (including mulled wine!), there’ll be children’s activities, farm tours and a talk from Sarah Pugh, Permaculturist and Founder of Bristol Permaculture Group.

We’d also like to invite you to get your oven mitts out and take part in our Organic Bake-Off for your chance to win a fantastic 8-course Tasting Menu for two at Michelin Starred restaurant, The Pony and Trap. All cake entries will be sold during the event and all proceeds will go towards funding the build of a Field Kitchen on site in the springtime next year. So even if you’re not in-it-to-win-it, bring along a cake and help us build our kitchen! If you are interested in entering the competition, please register by sending an email to and she will send you further information.

If you haven’t yet visited us at the farm then this will be a great opportunity! You can learn about the project and how we manage the land here at The Community Farm at one of the farm tours during the day.

A programme for the day will be published on our website nearer the time.

We do hope you can join us in the celebration!

Minibus Transport
To try and minimise our carbon footprint at the farm, we encourage people to either lift-share or to book onto a Community Transport Minibus which will be picking up at Bristol hippodrome (11.15am) and Bristol Temple Meads (11.30am) and returning from the farm at 3pm.

We ask for a contribution of £5 per adult (children free) to cover costs for the minibus.

Please book your place on the minibus here.
